چکیده

In this paper we present a linear programming solution for sign pattern recovery of a sparse signal from noisy random projections of the signal. We consider two types of noise models, input noise, where noise enters before the random projection; and output noise, where noise enters after the random projection. Sign pattern recovery involves the estimation of sign pattern of a sparse signal. Our idea is to pretend that no noise exists and solve the noiseless l1 problem, namely, min ‖β‖1 s.t. y = Gβ and quantizing the resulting solution. We show that the quantized solution perfectly reconstructs the sign pattern of a sufficiently sparse signal. Specifically, we show that the sign pattern of an arbitrary k-sparse, n-dimensional signal x can be recovered with SNR = Ω(logn) and measurements scaling as m = Ω(k logn/k) for all sparsity levels k satisfying 0 < k ≤ αn, where α is a sufficiently small positive constant. Surprisingly, this bound matches the optimal Max-Likelihood performance bounds in terms of SNR, required number of measurements, and admissible sparsity level in an order-wise sense. In contrast to our results, previous results based on LASSO and Max-Correlation techniques either assume significantly larger SNR, sublinear sparsity levels or restrictive assumptions on signal sets. Our proof technique is based on noisy perturbation of the noiseless l1 problem, in that, we estimate the maximum admissible noise level before sign pattern recovery fails.

Thresholded Basis Pursuit : Support Recovery for Sparse and Approximately Sparse Signals . ∗

In this paper we present a linear programming solution for support recovery. Support recovery involves the estimation of sign pattern of a sparse signal from a set of randomly projected noisy measurements. Our solution of the problem amounts to solving min ‖Z‖1 s.t. Y = GZ, and quantizing/thresholding the resulting solution Z. We show that this scheme is guaranteed to perfectly reconstruct a di...

Performance Limits of Sparse Support Recovery Algorithms

Compressed Sensing (CS) is a signal acquisition approach aiming to reduce the number of measurements required to capture a sparse (or, more generally, compressible) signal. Several works have shown significant performance advantages over conventional sampling techniques, through both theoretical analyses and experimental results, and have established CS as an efficient way to acquire and recons...

Compressed sensing signal recovery via forward-backward pursuit

Recovery of sparse signals from compressed measurements constitutes an l0 norm minimization problem, which is unpractical to solve. A number of sparse recovery approaches have appeared in the literature, including l1 minimization techniques, greedy pursuit algorithms, Bayesian methods and nonconvex optimization techniques among others. This manuscript introduces a novel two stage greedy approac...

On the gap between RIP-properties and sparse recovery conditions

We consider the problem of recovering sparse vectors from underdetermined linear measurements via lp-constrained basis pursuit. Previous analyses of this problem based on generalized restricted isometry properties have suggested that two phenomena occur if p 6= 2. First, one may need substantially more than s log(en/s) measurements (optimal for p = 2) for uniform recovery of all s-sparse vector...
